The Crystal Black Shrimp (Caridina Cantonensis), often called the “Black Bee,” is a timeless favorite in the shrimp hobby. The CBS offers a sophisticated look with striking bands of jet-black and snowy white. Against green aquascaping plants or red lava rock, their contrast is unmatched.

Recommended Water Parameters: These are Caridina shrimp and require soft, acidic water (usually achieved with active soil like ADA Amazonia or buffering substrates).

  • pH: 5.5 – 6.5

  • TDS: 100 – 140 ppm

  • GH: 3 – 5 dGH

  • KH: 0 – 1 dKH

  • Temperature: 22°C – 25°C (Chiller or fan recommended in summer)

Diet: They are excellent scavengers that feed on biofilm and algae. We supplement their diet with high-quality vegetable-based shrimp food and blanched spinach to maintain their thick white shells.
